Creating Configuration Macros

Configuration macros can be viewed by any user who has at least read access to the configuration. They can only be created, edited, and deleted by users with write access to the configuration, by the configuration owner, or by account admin users.

Creating Your First Configuration Macro

To create your first configuration macro:

  1. On the Configurations page, click the configuration for which you want to create a macro:

  2. On the Configuration Details page, click Macros:

  3. On the Configuration Macros page, click the Add Macro button:

  1. In the Add Macros dialog, enter a Name and Value:

  1. If required, encrypt the macro value by clicking the Lock icon in the Value field.

    Important

    If you click the Lock icon, the following warning is displayed:

    Secured macros cannot be unsecured, and their values cannot be edited. If you need to change the value of a secured macro, you must delete and readd it.

  2. Click the + icon:

    If you click the CONTINUE button before you click the + icon, the following dialog is displayed:

    Clicking CONTINUE will return you to the Macros page without adding the macro.

  3. A new empty row is added:

  4. If desired, repeat the previous two steps to add additional macros.

  5. Click the CONTINUE button.

  1. You are returned to the Configuration Macros page, which lists the new macro:

Creating Additional Configuration Macros

Once you have created your first macro, you can add additional rows to the Configurations Macros list and edit the values directly in the list:

  1. On the Configurations page, click the configuration for which you want to create a macro:

  2. On the Configuration Details page, click Macros:

  3. On the Configuration Macros page, click the Add Macro button:

  4. A row is added to the Macros list with the default name “Macro #”:

  5. Edit the name as desired and press Enter.

  6. Click the empty space in the Value column, enter the macro value, and press Enter.

  7. Click the empty space in the Description column, enter a description, and press Enter.
